Trampolines offer many hours of fun and a healthy activity to your kids. It has always been there when they wanted to go out, and you were too tired to take them. So, you need to ensure that it’s in pristine condition this season to offer you the same great family hours.

There could be many reasons why you’d need to replace your trampoline. Maybe you didn’t pay attention to its quality while impulse buying to keep your kids occupied, or it’s been years since you bought it. Keep reading to identify whether your trampoline or rebounder needs a replacement.

1. Trampoline Mats have Deteriorated

The mats or jumping pads are the most used and abused trampoline parts with constant forceful jumping and flipping. Most times, people ignore the deterioration of the mat because it isn’t apparent until it’s too late.

You have to take a closer look to see if there are holes, sagging, or fraying on the edges. It’s essential to keep an eye on the mat because its failure might cause a fall. If you notice any signs of deterioration and they are quite severe, it’s best to replace the trampoline to ensure your kids’ safety and good experience.

2. Your Kids Have Outgrown It

This has to be the most common reason for trampoline replacement, as all kids tend to outgrow their trampolines at some point. When getting it replaced, you need to identify the correct size according to the age, weight, and number of users. If a trampoline is too big for your kids, they won’t be able to bounce well. If it’s too small, they can’t all be in it at the same time.

3. Uneven Trampolines

An adequately set trampoline rests evenly on the ground and offers safe jumping. If your trampoline is uneven or leaning in any direction, it may need repair or replacement. It’s best not to use an uneven trampoline because it can be dangerous. So either repair it to keep it level with the ground or get a new one and make your kids happier.

4. Rusting

Since a trampoline is placed outdoors, weather conditions or other elements cause rusting on its frame and other metal parts. To prevent rusting, you should opt for a trampoline with a galvanized frame, both from the inside and outside.

If you find rusting on the frame, it can be cleaned, but it’s time to get a replacement if it’s on the springs.

5. Stretched Trampoline Strings

Springs connect the mat to the frame, provide flexibility and keep the jumper from hitting the ground. If you notice the springs in your trampoline have lost their shape or are stretched, it means that they’re damaged. You can either replace the damaged springs or get a new trampoline. Stretched trampoline strings can cause uneven bouncing, which further damages the mat.

6. Damaged Enclosure Net

The enclosure net keeps your kids from flying off the trampoline, and it allows them to bounce back safely on the jumping pad instead of falling to the ground with force. Keeping it intact is crucial, so get it replaced if you see any holes, snags, or other damage.

Get a good quality closer net with padding that prevents the kids from smacking against any metal surface or poles.

7. It Doesn’t Fulfill Your Kids’ Requirements

Trampolines aren’t only for leisure; many kids and teens need them for gymnastics, cheerleading, and parkour. Your current trampoline may not offer the right bounce or space they need for their activities.

For parkour and diving, your child may need more bounce to achieve the right height to flip or move, but for cheerleading and gymnastics, they need more space. Know why you want it and then choose one.

8. Changing Weather

Another common reason for replacement is that most families completely ignore their trampolines in the winter and end up damaging them. They lose their bounce, start to creak, or incur other apparent damages. For the best experience, get a new trampoline for your backyard this spring season.

9. It is Outdated

With so many options in the market, your kids may not like their old trampoline. Why not gift them a brand-new trampoline with fun recreational options? There are some trampolines with basketball hoops and some with swings in them. These options prevent your kids from getting bored and keep them engaged in healthy activities.

Increase Your Trampoline’s Longevity

You need to take care of your trampoline’s maintenance to avoid having to replace it repeatedly. Leaving your trampoline outdoors without making necessary repairs all year long can cause it to be damaged a lot faster than it’s supposed to. Typically, trampolines are solid and durable and have a long lifespan but still require upkeep now and then.

After replacing your trampoline, you must take care of it, so you don’t have to replace it again. Proper care and maintenance also save you a lot of money in the longer run. Here are a few tips:

  • Clean the trampoline mat and ensure there is no debris or dirt
  • Use protective trampoline covers to protect it from water, sunlight, or debris
  • Get anchor kits or wind stakes to stop it from blowing away during the windy season
  • Do routine checks and look for any damaged component, and replace it before it affects other parts
  • Don’t forget its maintenance during winter
