Are you a parent or grandparent who’s always wanted a trampoline but has been reluctant to buy one for your children because you think they’re too dangerous? Or maybe you’re wondering how to choose the safest trampoline for your backyard but aren’t sure where to start? We can guide you!

Trampolines and rebounders are a great source of fun and entertainment for your kids and are a great way to burn some extra energy, improve motor skills and encourage healthy activity. The best thing about them is that both you and your children can enjoy bouncing together—getting in some quality bonding time while burning some calories!

Over 500,000 people in the US buy backyard trampolines every year, so you’re not alone in your quest to find the right one for your family. Here’s our trampoline buying guide to help you choose the right one for your yard.

Choosing a Trampoline Material

The first decision you’ll make is whether to buy a trampoline made of steel, vinyl, or polypropylene. All three materials have their unique advantages. Polypropylene is the least expensive option and is available in a wide range of colors and patterns to match any decor. It’s also lightweight and portable, making it a good choice for those who don’t use their trampoline regularly.

Steel is one of the most durable choices, but it’s the most expensive of the three and comes in only a few color options. Vinyl is the best of both worlds: it’s a cost-effective material that’s both durable and waterproof, and it can be painted to match your décor.

The frame is the most important part of a trampoline and the main factor that determines its safety and strength. Most trampolines have a galvanized steel frame which is stronger and more durable than aluminum frames. If possible, choose a trampoline with a frame made from durable material like galvanized steel rather than aluminum.

Shapes of Trampoline

Mini trampolines and rebounders come in various shapes, including rectangles, oval, and round. Traditional trampolines are round and have four legs with straight sides that meet at a center pole at the top of the frame. Mini trampolines with round shapes are suitable for children or one adult at a time. They may not have as high a bounce as traditional rectangular ones.

Jumping on a trampoline

Rectangular trampolines are the most popular shape because of their durability and versatility. They’re large enough for more than one person to bounce on at once and can accommodate a variety of stunts. The downside is that they are more difficult to move and set up than other shapes, and some models can take several hours to assemble. Oval-shaped trampolines offer the stability and durability of a rectangular model and are easier to move and set up than traditional rectangular models. They’re also considered a safe option because of the lack of sharp corners.

The Spaciousness of Your Backyard

The size and style of the trampoline will largely depend on how much space you have in your backyard. Compact trampolines are available in various sizes to suit all types of backyards. These smaller trampolines are generally suitable for small children and pets up to the age of eight. Larger models can usually accommodate several children at once and are suitable for the whole family to use. But if your patio is quite spacious, feel free to go for bigger ones.

How Many People Are Using It?

Consider how many people are going to be using your trampoline simultaneously. If you are buying for children, then you may want to get a model made for one or two people. For adults, however, getting a model designed for four or more people at a time is best.

With a larger trampoline, you will have plenty of room to jump around and have fun without having to worry about bumping into someone else. In addition, a larger trampoline will have a bigger bounce that will allow you to have a more exciting experience while exercising.

Safety Features

Trampoline with a safety enclosure

Safety should be a top priority when purchasing a trampoline. You should look for a model with safety features such as a net or enclosure to prevent injuries. A safety net will ensure that everyone is safe while using the trampoline and prevents anyone from falling off.

An enclosure will also prevent injury by keeping jumpers inside the trampoline or rebounder and preventing any objects from landing outside the trampoline. Many models offer both of these features, which is a great option to consider. So, choose a model that offers safety and convenience to get the most out of your purchase.

Other Important Features

Here are the most important features that you should look for when buying a trampoline:

Frame Material – The frame material is one of the most important factors you should consider when purchasing a trampoline. If you choose the right material, you will ensure that the trampoline is safe and durable.

Bottom Attachment – The bottom attachment refers to the method used to secure the trampoline to the ground and keep it in place. The most common types of bottom attachments are anchors and stakes. It will help keep the trampoline stable on the ground and prevent it from moving around, while stakes are simply used to hold the structure in place.

Price Range – The price of the trampoline depends on its size and the included features. You can find high-quality models in various price ranges, so be sure to look for one within your budget.
