Even though drones have been around for almost twenty years, their history can be traced back to World War I, when the United States and France developed autonomous, pilotless aircraft.

The last several years, however, have been pivotal for the widespread acceptance and application of drones. Drone technology has flourished recently, expanding from its original use in technically challenging military environments to attracting amateurs worldwide.

Drones come in a wide range of shapes and sizes, each with unique advantages and potential applications. Drones may be pricey and cutting-edge or more simplified and budget-friendly. Nonetheless, flying a drone is a lot of fun in and of itself. So, if you are stumped about what to do with your brand-new drone, we’ve got you covered.

Here are the top five things, in no particular order:

1. Drone Racing

If you have always liked remote-controlled racing cars, you will love this one. The only difference will be that your vehicle will be in the air instead of on the ground. Moreover, you’ll be surprised to know that there’s even a drone racing league. You may even host your own racing league at home if you cannot participate in one for whatever reason.

You can even make an obstacle course for your drone to step things up and make the race more fun. So round up your drone enthusiast friends and get your drone ready to go.

2. Hunting Partner

Whether you’re going on a hunting expedition deep in the woods or high in the mountains, a drone can be the ideal hunting companion at your disposal. Depending on the range they can cover, they can assist you in inspecting any area you choose. To add to the benefits of using a drone for hunting, it may help you save time and avoid potentially dangerous situations, such as encountering wild animals or taking a wrong turn.

The next time you’re packing for a hunting trip, don’t forget to take your drone with you. If you haven’t invested in a drone yet, check out a guide on the best hiking and backpacking drones for 2022 on Outdoor Trends. It’ll help you decide which one you should invest in.

3. Say Cheese!

Taking selfies from phones is considered so boring and old-fashioned now. People are now taking dronies, which are essentially selfies taken with a drone. As a bonus, dronies keep you from worrying whether or not your shoes will appear in the picture. Also, no one will be left out. You can get some very spectacular shots of the whole gang.

4. Cooking – Helper in the Kitchen

You’re probably wondering how someone can cook with a drone; that’s crazy! Well, the title literally does mention all the crazy things you can do with a drone, doesn’t it? So, yes, we do place a high value on what we say.

That said, how can a drone help in a kitchen? Drones have sharp propellers. You can wear some gloves for safety, start your drone and safely use the blades as a peeler. You can peel potatoes, carrots, or any other vegetable you want. If you’re worried about being burnt when deep frying, you can simply fasten a hook to your drone and hang your meal of choice from it to cook it from a safe distance.

Additionally, you can also use it to chop your parsley—but don’t blame us for the mess it makes!

5. Fishing

It might come as a surprise to you, but drones can be used to improve mundane activities like fishing. You can go fishing and raise your chances of catching big fish with only a few tweaks and modifications. We know it’s not easy to get your fishing line to go precisely where you want it to go if you’re trying to throw it out far, especially when fishing from a boat in the ocean.

If you have a drone, you can simply attach your fishing line to it, land it exactly where you want, and cast your line out into the sea. It makes the entire process so simple!
